MCAF Scholarship & Athlete Recognition

Scholarship Award

Every year at Mt. Carmel’s Athlete of the Year Banquet, the MCAF awards a $1000 scholarship to the male and female Scholar Athlete of Year in the name of Willie & Kathy Payne.

The requirements for the award are as follows:

• Must be a senior with at least a 3.75 GPA
• Lettered for two years in the same sport. 

The students meeting these requirements are designated by the athletic secretary.  Applications are made available to the athletes and are to be completed in March.  Completed applications are handed out at the April meeting, and voted on at the May meeting.

MCAF Scholar Athlete Patch and Pin

• Every Mt. Carmel athlete can receive a Scholar Athlete Patch and Pin provided they meet certain academic qualifications.  Need to have a 3.75 GPA and letter in a varsity sport.

• First year recipients get patch, certificate and note explaining award. If the athlete lettered in more than one sport in a year, they receive a pin for the second and third sport.

• One patch is given per athlete.  Athletes earning the award, in following years receive a pin or pins, if lettering in more than one sport, and certificate.

• Open to every class, i.e. frosh, sophomore, junior, senior.
